For its 2025 Christmas market, the City of Ajaccio made a bold choice: to offer an event that was attractive, festive, and environmentally friendly.
The objective was clear: to eliminate noise pollution and emissions from generators, while ensuring a reliable power supply for all the installations.
A completely redesigned energy infrastructure
With the support of the technical service provider ATACC, the city has deployed a 100% clean energy solution based on Pess Energy technologies.
The system was based on:
- 27 BLAZE solar panels (12150 Wp) coupled with 3 FLYWATT batteries (3* 11kW-10kWh)
- 1 WATTMAN unit dedicated to complementary uses
This system provided power for the main stage, video mapping, structural lighting, as well as the chalets and secondary facilities.
Complete autonomy for the entire duration of the event
Throughout December, the market operated continuously without any need for a thermal generator.
Even during peak consumption periods related to events, concerts, and light displays, the solutions demonstrated perfectly adequate capacity.
Silence and comfort at the heart of the experience
In a public event in the city center, acoustic comfort is essential.
The complete absence of noise and odors significantly improved the experience for both visitors and local residents, while also enhancing the city’s image.
A simple solution to deploy, designed for events
Beyond energy efficiency, ease of installation and use was a key factor in the success.
The systems were deployed rapidly, without requiring extensive infrastructure, and operated reliably and continuously, meeting the operational demands of a long-duration event.
A measurable environmental impact
This technological choice made it possible to avoid up to 4.4 tonnes of CO₂ over the duration of the event, which is equivalent to the consumption of a 100 kVA diesel generator over the same period.
A new standard for public events
This feedback demonstrates that it is now possible to reconcile attractiveness, technical requirements, and energy efficiency.
The Ajaccio Christmas market thus becomes a replicable model for many formats: festivals, summer events, concerts, or temporary villages.
